its been so long!

Alright so its been forever and I havent had any time or ideas this year but Jamie and Rebecca had a great idea for a couples night and I loooove it!!
There is free kayaking on whiskytown at night on a full moon every month. Wouldnt it be awesome to paddle around the lake with your person on a full moon?!
Brilliant.
So Im hoping that I have the next full moon week/weekend off and we can have a couples night.
Further information to follow as we get a little closer to our next full moon.
I hope you guys are all doing great in your relationships and I want to leave you with this cool marriage thought from my favorite marriage authors the Parrotts.
For reflection:
As you survey the landscape of your marriage, what kinds of attitudes do you see? If you are like most couples, you could probably use an attitiude tune-up. If so, what single attitiudes do you need to change the most? Switch your mindset to look for the positive, What positive things have you reently been overlooking in your relationship?
that is from an awesome book that changed my life. hope it envokes thought. Cant wait to see you on the lake!

Febuary Couples Night

Alright, so we are moving in to a fixer-upper in redding. This is taking up all of our free time since I work every other weekend. I really have little creative energy to think of a great couples night for the next few months. I want to include every one that wants to be a part of it so I need something nonathletic, fun, and cheap. Any ideas? I cant wait untill this house is done so we can invite you guys over for dinners and game nights and all that cool stuff. Right now its just such an in-between time. I hope every one is doing great and feel free to post to this blog with any ideas or thoughts. If any one needs to talk about couples stuff or wants to get involved in marriage mentors on the mentee end of it, let me know or check out the stirring web page it has information.
Aaaaand-i would love it if everyone posted their Valentines day plans so we can all get a little romantic advice. Im still thinking... I will post when I get a good idea.

cool couples book of the month: How to get your husband to talk to you. By:Nancy Cobb and Connie Grigsby Short chapters on the comunicative differences between husbands and wifes. Really interesting and easy read. I got mine from christianbooks.com but you can get in on half.com used for really cheap!
Enjoy.

December Couples Night

We are not having a date night this month as it is really busy and money is tight for every one. Save up for February because we are doing a month long dance class, SALSA is the class of the month. Stay tuned for more information. Its ten dollars a couple a night. We will hopefully be in our new house in redding and will have daycare provided and dinner before hand at our house also. The dance classes are on monday nights so get ready to salsa with your spouse!
For january I would love some ideas, I was thinking a trip to mount shasta to go icescating or something nonathletic like dinner together at someones house in redding or up here in shingletown. If any one has any brilliant or even not so brilliant ideas let me know.

My couples night

Okay so I have to give my husband props. He went all out this date night. We started at the Secret Garden play at the Cascade. We went to dinner with my sister and her boyfriend at Outback. He not only looked amazing but it was one of those times that everything was going right and everyone was happy...After that was bowling. I cant remember laughing so much on a date. We had such a great time. He blew me away when afterwards he said he had a suprise for me and took me to The Hilton...A room with a view of the river and champaign and chocolate covered strawberries! He had somehow managed to cover the floor and bed in rose petals before he picked me up for the play. We went dancing with Matt and Jamie, I forgot how much I looooove dancing. The rock bar we went to was Jonnys and the band played the best cover songs....it beat the pants off of the stupid rap stuff they play at the other clubs in town. I felt sexy and cherished and like a princess the whole night. After so long of feeling emotionally flat lined I felt a break in the ice and like I was breathing and my heart was beating. It wasn't just that night that did it, it has been a long road of rebuilding my heart but something about the thought and time he put in to make sure my night was fantastic was just what I needed.
Not that Chad will ever read this blog but for some reason if you do, Sugar-thank you. Thank you for that night, for your patience with all of the nights I wasn't emotionally avaliable in the past. amd for the days that were so long. For comming home to your family every night, happy to see us. For being a friend, brother, lover and confidant to me all this time. I love you from the bottom of my soul and can't imagine one single day with out you. Im so elated that we made it through the worst of times to come upon this chapter in our lives. This love was made to last forever and I feel it now like it has its own life, its own heart beating inside of me. You are my soul mate and I am forever yours.

Couples Night Review

Okay so couples night was fantastic this month.
I was skeptical about bowling but it was so much fun...It seems like the same couples are comming each time and that makes it really neat when you get to know people and they're all fun to be with. On the other hand, it would be cool to meet some new faces... It may be intimidating for a couple to just take a leap of faith and come with out a personal invite so please mention to the couples in your home groups, work place, moms groups, etc...that we would love to have them come. I would like to do something that is free and not athletic this next month. I have a really humble home up in the hills of SHingletown and think it might be fun for me to blow the dust off of my Martha;s hors d' overes cookbook and make some great dinner thing and have a fun night of games and hanging out...the only thing is the drive. It takes about 35 minutes to get here. If thats not a big deal let me know and i will throw it together. If anyone else has a better idea throw it out there! I think more couples could come if it didnt cost any thing (holidays are comming up) and one couple wanted to come last time but due to an injury couldnt bowl...you see the dilemma. I would love some ideas for couples night. Also, there is a ballroom dancing class for five dollars a person every tuesday night...I was thinking about arranging child care if any one wanted to do this with CHad and I. They do one dance a month like "East Coast Swing" in JAnuary, "tango" in February etc... We did it for a while and it was a blast. If any one is interested let me know and I will see about child care details. Keep in mind its about 2.5 hours long and with child care it would be about 20.00 per week. Maybe do it for a month and see how it goes? If you gave up eating at a drive through as a family one time a week or cut down on 5 starbucks you could have a cool date night once a week...I like to play that game.

yeeehaw for the cow train!

Its fall and seriously you will be very sad going in to winter with out eating some kettle corn, shooting some pumpkins out of cannons and riding the cow train. Its your country roots showing if you're feeling excited right now. The child care thing got complecated so dont call Lisa, call me if you need child care, I am figuring that out right now. It will all work out. We may grab some coffee or dessert after the Hawes experience so if you can get a late night baby sitter, awesome! If you can get grandma to just keep the kids so you have the full effect of a date night, even better! Hope to see you there!
Love you all
Angie
